The next door knock exercise will be taking place in
Norton and Harvington on Tuesday 21 August between
9.30am-4.30pm. Please email tracy.perkins@wychavon.gov.uk
for more details.
During March 2011 we
held four community drop-in events in Badsey, Broadway, Norton and
Harvington. The aim of the events was firstly to further
engage with the communities in the Opportunity Vale of Evesham
project areas and secondly to bring services out to rural
communities.
Organisations that attend the events were as
follows:
- Rooftop
- Midwest rural
- Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire Service
- Family Information service
- Adult and Community Learning / Computabus
- Children’s centre
- Wychavon DC Housing
- Act on Energy
- Lloyd’s Pharmacy (Health Checks)
- Badsey Parish Council (Badsey only)
- Opportunity Vale of Evesham Project
- Sports Coaches
- Youth Bus
- Age UK
The events were received positively by those
who attended and there were several requests from young people in
Badsey for them to be repeated, especially the youth bus and the
sports coaching.
On Monday 25 July
2011 in the Fairfield area of Evesham (Battleton
Road, Trinity Close, Barnards Close, Anne Crescent, Simons Way and
Charles Close) a team from Rooftop, Act on Energy and Wychavon
District Council knocked on doors to talk to
people about the services that are
available and asked them to complete a small
questionnaire. A health check was also available in the
communal lounge in Charles Close. This proved very
successful, 57 forms were completed and about 100 referrals
were made. An information pack was left with 65 other
properties.
On Thursday 1 September 2011 we also held
another door knocking event in Avon Street, Edward Street,
West Street and Littleworth Street, Evesham. Not so many
houses were visited this time but again it went very well
with 34% of questionnaires being completed and 34 referrals being
made. Other parts of Evesham were covered on 29 September and 4
October 2011.
A successful Partners event was held on 18 April 2012.

Redesigning services in rural areas event - 17 October
2012
A major element of the Opportunity Vale of Evesham project this
year has been to look at what services and facilities are available
to deprived rural communities, how they are currently delivered and
whether they can be delivered more effectively.
We have spent the past six months looking at the range of public,
voluntary and community sector services available to children and
young people, and older people in some rural areas of
Wychavon.
This event held for senior managers and key stakeholdersto
gave an insight into the experiences of residents in some rural
areas of Wychavon and what they feel about the services we all
provide.
