Investing in providing Community Safety Neighbourhood Wardens and
mobile CCTV so we can help reduce crime and make you feel safer. We
also piloted half price swimming for under 16's during the summer
and invested in sports initiatives as activities for young people
in the district as this was a priority for you too.

Balancing the budget: have your
say
We have some tough decisions to
make about which services we can continue to provide and how we can
generate more income.
We spend £10 million a year providing all sorts of services from
parks to planning, from business support to emptying bins.
Since 2010 we have saved nearly £2 million. We have:
• saved over £800,000 on management and staffing
costs
• saved £500,000 by sharing services with other councils and
getting better deals on goods and services
• increased our income by £400,000 from rents on assets, like
Waitrose in Droitwich Spa, and from car parking charges
• only made minor service reductions, like closing public toilets
earlier and cutting grass verges less often, saving us
£100,000.
We’ll continue to be as efficient as possible and we plan to reduce
our management and staffing costs by another £200,000. But that
won’t be enough.
Further government funding cuts mean that we need to save another
£1.4 million over the next two years.
We want your views to help us make decisions when we come to set
our budget for 2014/15 and beyond. If you are a Wychavon resident
aged over 16, start the survey and have your say by clicking the
