Dr Bike is a Worcestershire County Council initiative that is operated by the Worcester based charity Motov8. The Dr Bike surgeries offer schools, businesses and Worcester residents a free cycle safety check and free minor repairs.
The Dr Bike trained team of qualified mechanics will give your bike a safety check covering; wheels, tyres, headset, brakes, gears, saddle height and chain to ensure that your bike is safe to use on the road. The mechanics will not carry out repairs that take longer than 15 minutes but will offer a diagnostic service and offer advice on more extensive repairs.
The service, which has been running for around twelve months, is funded by the Choose how you move project, and has already run 14 surgeries around Worcester with a further 12 already booked for 2008. Worcester schools are entitled to one free Dr Bike surgery a year while Worcester based employers can book a cycle surgery for the heavily subsidised cost of £150. There will also be a number of public Dr Bike surgeries and the Dr Bike Team are currently looking for Worcester businesses to act as venues. In return for hosting an event there will be no cost to the business or organisation for the servicing of their employees bikes.
