Cycle training for children

Cyclists should follow the rules of the Highway Code and try to anticipate drivers’ actions. They need to ride positively and decisively with the correct use of signalling and road positioning so other road users can react accordingly. To equip young cyclists with these skills, Worcestershire County Council provides cycle training through schools.

Bronze level this focuses on off road skills and is aimed at children under 10 years old. The aim is to develop safer riding skills and balance in preparation for the on road environment

Silver level – for those aged 10 years and over, this enable young cyclists to put their skills into practice on the road and further develop awareness of traffic and traffic related problems.

It is the responsibility of the school to arrange cycle training through the county council's Road Safety team. Email us or call 01905 768473 to arrange a session. If you would like to find out if your child's school has a training session booked, contact the school directly.
