Introduction
In 2006 the Audit Commission introduced an approach called Data Quality. This approach aims to help the Auditor in assessing the Council’s arrangements for managing information that ensures the quality of data used to make decisions and review performance.
The Auditor will use the outcomes from the Data Quality Assessment to help inform their judgements in relation to Value for Money, and the CPA function.
Council’s 2006 Data Quality Assessment
The Assessment covers five themes, each consisting of a number of key lines of enquiry, setting out areas of focus and indicating the performance levels required to achieve a rating of one to four. These ratings translate into the following categories:
| 1 | Below Minimum Requirement – Adequate Performance |
| 2 | Only At Minimum Requirement – Adequate Performance |
| 3 | Consistently Above Minimum Requirement – Performing Well |
| 4 | Well Above Minimum Requirements – Performing Strongly |
Worcestershire County Council achieved a score of 3 which demonstrates that our approach to Data Quality is consistently above the minimum standards required.
A summary of the Council’s assessment, under each of the themes, is detailed below.
| Theme | Score |
| Governance and Leadership | 2 |
| Policies and Procedures | 2 |
| Systems and Processes | 3 |
| People and Skills | 3 |
| Data Use | 4 |
