Economic Background

The economic data quoted is mainly provided by the Office for National Statistics and is based on the latest Economic Assessment. The labour market statistics they use are taken from sources including the Annual Business Inquiry, Annual Population Survey, Census, Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, Claimant Count and Jobcentre Vacancies.

Below is a selection of the most up to date economic data for Worcestershire. This has been broken down into 6 categories. Click on the appropriate section to view the data:

As this data is taken primarily from the latest economic assessment there may be more up-to-date figures available. These can be downloaded from NOMIS (www.nomisweb.co.uk). If you are a new user you will need to set up a free account and then data can be downloaded from via the advanced query section.

Other local level economic data is available from ONS Neighbourhood Statistics at http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk

ONS has produced an article examining indicators for local area labour markets. It also provides a guide as to the main sources of local labour market statistics.  Click here for Local Area Labour Market Statistical Indicators
