Building Economists
The Building Economist Team has responsibility for providing cost advice for construction
and refurbishment projects. As part of building a better Worcestershire our aim is to ensure that the
County Council obtains optimum value for money.
Main duties of the Team:
- Provide financial and economic advice to support the Corporate Capital planning
process. This involves budget estimating, production of capital/targeted bids, cost planning and maintenance
of a cost information library.
- Development of an whole life cost approach to option
appraisal
- Provide a Quantity Surveying response to Design Unit queries and facilitate
consultant Quantity Surveyor support services
- Provide support to the Capital Programme
Manager in the preparation and monitoring of the County Council budgets/cash flows for capital building
projects
- Contribute to the development of CUPID as a corporate management information
system.
- Maintain on-going strategic development for Best Value, Sustainability with
regard to ensuring that clients obtain long term value, supporting the Council's wider Social/Environmental
policy commitments
To benchmark service standards against public/private
sector contempories, to ensure quality standards and identify development opportunities
