Welcome from Stephen Chandler, Head of Health and Social Care (Learning Disability Services).
Thank you for considering an application to work for Worcestershire
Learning Disability Services. Worcestershire, an Excellent County Council, provides integrated Learning
Disability Services in partnership with Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
The Learning Disability Services have achieved a significant amount in the last few years delivering the Valuing People Agenda and progressing well in developing personalised services through our local “Doing It Your Way” project. We recognise, however, that there are still significant challenges ahead to develop our services. Our success is evidenced by a number of managers being seconded to work on to key projects for the Directorate – hence some of the vacancies we currently have. The services have a strong user focus and excellent staff who are committed to delivering high quality services. We also have our share of challenges where we clearly need to improve, for example, the need to have integrated performance and planning systems, the delivery of specialist services to people with a learning disability and the development of services inline with the Trusts aspiration to become a NHS Fondation Trust.
If you join us you will be joining a progressive service, at a time of significant change in the provision of services, which will enable us to better serve the people of Worcestershire who have a learning disability, their families and the many staff who work in the service currently. You therefore need to bring with you talent, energy and a leadership ability to help us with our ambitious plans.
