Doing It Your Way is a new project to support people with a learning disability in Worcestershire to have Individual Budgets. It is a partnership between Worcestershire Learning Disability Service and BILD and involves a small team of people across both organisations.
The project aims to find out how best to support more people with a learning disability to know about, and be supported to have, Individual Budgets. As such it is a pilot project and will work in partnership with individuals and their families to learn what works and how best to support more people to have an Individual Budget.
The project is part-funded by the Worcestershire Learning
Disability Partnership Board and will be accountable to that Board, through a Sub-Group.
Both Worcestershire County Council and BILD are members of In Control and the project, therefore, will benefit from regional and national networking to share learning, information and best practice.
The project will be overseen by a manager (already appointed) who will oversee a small team specialising in areas such as:

The County Council is looking to change the way that all people needing social care are able to have more control. The Learning Disability Service is starting now to work with some families and individuals to learn how we can change our systems to give people more control over what their support looks like. This will develop over time and we want to work with everyone involved to learn how we can do this better and how we can offer more people the opportunity to make the decisions that are really important to them.
