You may be reading this because you are a vulnerable adult who is being abused, or has been abused. Or you may be someone who is concerned about the well-being and safety of a vulnerable adult. This information is issued by Worcestershire Safeguarding Adults Committee to help you understand what is meant by abuse and how many different organisations work together to offer protection and support.
There is a growing awareness that abuse of vulnerable adults is a very real problem in our society. It is often difficult for people to talk about the abuse they are experiencing for many different reasons. It can also be difficult for people to speak up on behalf of others.
We hope that this guidance will give you the confidence to make your concerns known if you suspect abuse, and, in doing this, help change things for the better for all vulnerable adults who are experiencing abuse.
