skipBelow are some frequently asked questions relating to skip hire in Worcestershire:

I wish to hire a skip, do I need a permit?

If the skip is to be placed within your property no permit is required and you may approach any skip company of your choice. Skips should be placed within the property boundaries wherever possible.

How do I obtain a permit to place a skip on the highway?

Where it is necessary to place a skip on any part of the highway (pavement, verge or side of the road), you will need to contact a skip company registered with Worcestershire County Council. The skip company will apply for the necessary permit to place the skip on the highway.

How much does the permit cost?

Each permit costs £25 and lasts for a maximum of 4 weeks. The registered skip company placing the skip on the highway will be invoiced by Worcestershire County Council at the end of the month in which the permit was issued.

What if I require a skip for longer than this period of time?

If the skip needs to be on the highway for longer than 4 weeks, the charge increases by a further £25 per month.

How can I check if a skip has a valid permit?

To check if a skip has a valid permit  view the current list of valid skip permits This is a link to a XLS file. (304.00 KB). If you have noticed a skip which is not on this list, call the Worcestershire Hub Logoon 0845 607 2005 to report this to us.

How can I register my company on the list of registered operators with Worcestershire County Council?

You can apply to be registered with Worcestershire County Council online electronically. How can I make a complaint regarding the location of a skip?

Any complaints about location or safety of skips should be reported to us immediately by calling the Worcestershire Hub Logo 0845 607 2005. This will allow us to check whether or not the skip does have a valid permit, and ensure that the highways remain as safe as possible at all times. Alternatively you may select to report a highways defect online.

Note: Applications for permission are to be submitted at least 5 clear working days (Mondays to Fridays) before it is required to place the skip on the highway. To avoid disappointment a longer period should be allowed for A and B roads or where parking will cause problems.

A fee of £25 is charged for a skip to be placed on the Highway for up to one month.
