National Year of Reading 2008
We are inviting you to help us celebrate national year of reading
by visiting your local library and joining in the reading fun. There are events taking place in every
library across the county over the next few months.
Here are just a few of the events which you can take part in:-
- The
summer reading challenge “Team Read”
Children
are challenged to read 6 books and are awarded badges and medals as they progress through the challenge.

- Summer holiday events for children.
A
range of children's events taking place at libraries across the county.
- “Reading
Escapes” Monday 28th July – Tuesday 30th September
Take a photograph of yourself, your friends or your family reading at home, on
holiday or somewhere more unusual and send it to us with a short description of why you love to read.
The prize is a day at photography school or a photographic portrait.

- Joint Your Local Library
In September
we will be running a membership campaign with prize draw. There has never been a better time to join
your local library, your membership form will be entered into a prize draw. If you are already a member
please encourage your friends and family to join and benefit from the range of services on offer. You
can also join on –line (joining form)
- Authors and storytellers
Authors
and storytellers will be visiting libraries over the next few months. Keep watching this space for further
details
- October Events
October will be a very
busy month, with events taking place for Children's Book week, Family learning and Bookstart
