How much LHA will I Receive?

To work out how much Local Housing Allowance you will be entitled to you will need to know which BRMA your property is in-see which BRMA applies to me?

You then need to work out how many rooms your family needs.

One bedroom is allocated to every single adult or adult couple except:

  • ·Single claimants under the age of 25 will be entitled to the shared room LHA
  • ·Single claimants or couples over 25 with no dependants with shared facilities will be entitled to the shared room LHA

An additional bedroom will be allocated for:

  • ·Any other person over the age of 16
  • ·Any two children under the age of 10
  • ·Any two same sex children under the age of 16
  • ·Any other child.

Example: A couple with 2 male children under the age of 16 will be entitled to 2 bedrooms.

Remember

Once you have worked out your LHA this will be the maximum that you can receive. The amount may be reduced due to the amount of income and capital that you have. To calculate your final amount please use the benefits calculator
