Wychavon's Contaminated Land Strategy

We have a duty under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to inspect the district for land considered to be "contaminated land" and to produce an inspection strategy detailing how this is to be done.

The current Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy This is a link to a PDF file. (1023.41 KB) is a revision of the original document that was adopted at Environment Committee on 22 May 2001 following extensive consultation. The Original 2001 version of the Strategy This is a link to a PDF file. (723.33 KB).

Contaminated Land has only been heard of in recent years in the headlines of newspapers. However, local authorities and the Government have been addressing contamination issues for a long time.

Further information on the historical context in relation to Wychavon This is a link to a PDF file. (27.84 KB).

The introduction of the Contaminated Land Regime in 2000, required each local authority to publish a Strategy document.  Details on the production of this document and the publication process This is a link to a PDF file. (29.00 KB).

Since the publication of Wychavon's Strategy in 2001 our work has progressed alongside that already undertaken to ensure new developments do not cause problems due to historic contamination. You can view the details of the work undertaken to date This is a link to a PDF file. (12.43 KB). Prior to the review of the Strategy document, the work undertaken to date was assessed and evaluated. We based the review on the Evaluation document This is a link to a PDF file. (39.96 KB).
