If you find an unusually large number of flies at your property, send a sample to us for identification. Samples must be packed in a sealed, crushproof container, such as a small plastic pill or herb container, preferably not glass for safety's sake
Once we've identified your sample, we will try to find out where the flies have bred. This is not always possible as some types can fly miles from their breeding site. If we can find the breeding site, we will work with the site owner to get rid of the flies.
If we are satisfied that the flies are causing a Statutory Nuisance, an Abatement Notice can be served requiring the site owner to stop the problem. If the Notice is not complied with they could face a maximum fine of £5000 (domestic premises), or £20,000 (commercial/industrial premises).
