17 Lighten the load ...featuring NAPO

DVD

Shows how to avoid musculoskeletal problems in the workplace.

The series of animated scenes follow Napo as he gets to grips with various lifting and carrying situations. These serious messages are presented in a light-hearted manner and are ideal for training people, especially those who don’t read or speak English well.

The clips are short and easy to understand. Each scene points out the problem and its solution. The emphasis is on engineering out bad practice and causes of strain and injury to achieve more efficient handling. Sections deal with:

  • fast-paced work and repetitive activity
  • moving and carrying heavy loads to prevent strain and injury
  • workstation height and layout
  • excessive and continual twisting
  • use of lifting aids to eliminate or improve manual handling
  • how to ensure good grip when handling tools
  • vibration and use of power tools
  • efficient and safe handling
  • thinking and planning about lifting and workplace movements.

18 Safe start ...featuring NAPO

DVD

Ideal for training new workers.

This animated DVD follows the hapless NAPO as he starts a new job. A series of amusing sketches show him getting to grips with his new workplace - not always with flying colours. This film is ideal for training new and inexperienced workers and also cuts across language barriers, as there are no speaking parts. It takes a light-hearted approach, but there are serious messages here, presented in a format that will hold people's attention. The DVD deals with: the importance of proper health and safety training and instruction; Urging workers not to hesitate to ask questions; The need to pay attention to safety messages, such as fire drills, and location of escape routes. 10 mins
