I Have Been Accepted As Homeless
(The Housing Act 1996, Part V11, as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002).
If the Council has accepted a statutory duty under the Homeless Legislation to rehouse you, you will be expected to bid for all properties that you are eligible for.
Home Choice Plus is keen that everybody plays an active role in this scheme. We need to maximise our use of our Temporary Accommodation by avoiding the use of Bed & Breakfast Accommodation for homeless households.
For anyone that we have accepted a duty towards they will be given a Priority status and because of this status the process is a little different.
- Your Priority Banding will be time limited for 3 months – it will then be reviewed.
- You will be expected to have made a bid within the first 2 weeks of receiving your Priority Banding. If statutorily homeless applicants have not obtained accommodation using the priority status within two weeks of being awarded the priority, Officers from Housing Services at Wychavon District Council will make bids on behalf of the applicant for any suitable properties that become available.
- Wychavon Housing Services officers may assist with your bidding, where suitable properties become available.
- If a suitable offer is refused the homelessness duty will be discharged and the customer will cease to have a priority status.
