Personnel, Payroll and Development
Provide professional and specialist advice across the organisation on all areas of employment legislation, people and salary information.
The Services We Provide:
- We aim to improve employee involvement, encourage open and honest communication and promote empowerment to enhance service delivery
- We aim to provide the right training and development to enable the organisation to successfully deliver it’s priorities and promises
- We aim to develop flexible working practices throughout the organisation

- We aim to attract, employ and retain staff who are competent, enthusiastic and share our beliefs
- We aim to provide a comprehensive payroll service to staff and members.
What You Can Expect From Us:
We will: (corporate standards)
- Be friendly, helpful and attentive
- Avoid jargon and explain technical terms
- Treat everybody fairly to the same high standard
- Respond to e-mails within one working days
- Reply to your letters within 7 working days, or tell you if it’s going to take longer.
- Answer telephones within seven rings (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) *
- Not make promises we cannot keep

We will: (service specific)
- Update and monitor progress against the Prouder People Action Plan
- Ensure we continue to meet IIP standards
- Provide an organisational corporate training plan, agree and implement training and development events
- Continue to update organisational policies and procedures in line with best practice and changing legislation
- Continue to provide a comprehensive payroll service to staff and members
- Work with line managers to begin to monitor sickness absence much more closely
- Continue to provide professional advice and guidance to SMT, Middle Managers, Members and staff on all personnel, development and payroll related areas and assist where necessary
- Work towards centralising personnel activities, in particular recruitment and selection
- Work with trade unions to encourage a positive employee relations climate.
What We Expect From You:
- We ask that you apply the same standards of behaviour towards the personnel and payroll staff as you expect from us
- We ask for your timely co-operation when responding to requests for information, records, documents, contracts etc
- We ask that you involve us as early as possible in any employment / staffing matters
- We ask that all travel and subsistence, overtime claims etc are accurately completed and handed to payroll by the agreed deadlines
- We ask that you complete and update the training section of your Performance Development Reviews and attend any development events / courses booked for you
Consultation, Complaints, Feedback and Suggestions:
- We are always open to feedback on the personnel, development and payroll services we provide and how we can work together to improve these services
- From time to time we may formally ask for your views, both on individual areas and on the service as a whole
- Any formal complaints should be directed to Kim Stallard, Personnel, Payroll and Development Manager in the first instance.
