  • Junk mail can easily be recycled, but why not stop it being delivered in the first place? The mailing preference service can stop up to 95% of unwanted mail.
Register at the Mail Preference Service website or call 0845 7034599 (calls charged at local rate)
  • Take unused or unwanted paint to specialist Household Waste Reuse Centres - or see if a local charity, voluntary group or drama group could use it.
  • With the amount of rain we’ve had this year, we must be due for a good 2008 summer, so why not holiday in this country and avoid using an aircraft?

  • Use a bicycle instead of the car if you can. It’s cheaper and a lot healthier!
  • Clothes, toys, books or other household items can all be re-used by local charity shops
  • Unwanted magazines will be appreciated at your local doctor’s or dentist’s surgery
  • Unwanted electrical appliances can be given to The Network (Worcestershire Electrical Appliance Re-Use Centre). Call 01562 513399
  • Unwanted furniture can be put to good used by Roundabout who make furniture available to those who need it most. Call 0870 116 3230
  • Don’t throw away unwanted gifts or other usable items ‘freecycle’ them! Join the ‘Freecycle’ network, you’ll be amazed what’s there.
