The District Council has produced its first Adopted Statement of Community Involvment
(625.50 KB), under the new planning system Local Development Framework (LDF)
(24.50 KB). The document was subject to extensive public consultation, although will not have Development Plan status. It enables the community to know how and when they will be involved in the preparation of planning policy i.e. Local Development Documents and how they will be consulted on major planning applications. The SCI was approved at Executive Board on 16th May 2006 and formally adopted on 25th May 2006. Please click on the link to view the Adoption Statement.

An independent examination of the SCI was carried out in accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) where 9 tests were used to assess whether the SCI was sound. We received the Inspectors Report on 23rd March 2006, in which the objections and supports into the SCI were considered by written representations.
The Inspector's Report maybe viewed by clicking below:
(585.08 KB)The Inspector's Report is binding on the Council and therefore any recommendations made by the Inspector were incorporated into the SCI.
Once approved by Executive Board in May 2006, the SCI will be adopted and all our future Local Development Documents (LDDs) must comply with the SCI and will be assessed against it to ensure that we have properly sought the views of the community in preparation of planning policy documents and on major planning applications.
BACKGROUND TO THE SCI
The District Council has also produced a Consultation Statement which is required by legislation and sets out the steps that the Council has undertaken to publicise the SCI.
