Port Street Townscape Heritage Initiative

The Heritage Lottery Fund have announced that a £257,000 grant has been earmarked under the Townscape Heritage Initiative to continue the conservation led regeneration of the Port Street and Waterside area of Evesham.

The District Council and other agencies will also be allocating funds to this project which will see the repair and restoration of a further 20 or so historic properties in this part of the town which was badly affected by the floods in July 2007.

The project will also look to address the continuing deterioration of the Regal Cinema which is seen as central to the wider regeneration of this area.

The next stage will be to develop the project in partnership with the Local Strategic Partnership and property owners and tenants and undertake a detailed condition survey of the targeted historic properties.

Further updates and information on the scheme will be made available on the Port Street pages of the Planning web site or contact Jim Burgin, Heritage Manager at jim.burgin@wychavon.gov.uk.
