Sports Development

What is Sports Development?

Sport can be defined as…

  • ‘All forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aims at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels’.

Development can be defined as…

  • ‘To expand, grow or evolve’

Together, Sports Development is about encouraging and increasing opportunities for people of all abilities to take part in sport, learn new skills and achieve their full potential, in a safe environment.

How do we do this?

By developing working partnerships with individuals and a range of organisations such as:

To co-ordinate the delivery and development of sporting activities for primarily young people across the Wychavon District Council area. Creating strong sustainable structures, which offer opportunities to enhance the health and quality of life enjoyed by all.
