Community Planning

A community strategy or plan is a visionary document.  It sets out the priorities for a particular locality and how key organisations and agencies are working together to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives in, works in or visits the area.

A community strategy typically contains:

• a shared vision
• priorities for the area, derived from a strong evidence base, including community views
• targeted partnership actions that meet the priorities and will help deliver the long term vision
• a shared commitment to implementing the actions from everyone involved
• arrangements for monitoring and reviewing the plan
• a way of reporting progress to the community.

In Wychavon, the Community Plan Core Group is responsible for preparing the community strategy, managing its implementation and reporting progress against the actions in it.  The Core Group brings together representatives from public, private, community and voluntary agencies and the Chairs of the district’s three Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs).
