Abbey Park, EveshamCentral to the town and originally the grounds to Evesham Abbey, the park interprets that heritage in a variety of ways. It has a wonderful setting with a natural terrace and excellent views from the higher levels over the adjacent river Avon. Boat trips run from the Park Quay in the summer. Major Investment has rejuvenated the park and it now throngs with families on a summer weekend, listening to music from brass bands whilst the children have a great time in the water play fountains. It hosts a variety of events through the year including a hot air balloon festival in June, children’s summer holiday activities, river festival in July, and fishing festival in August. The avenue of mature lime trees along the river is lit by purple and green uplighters to compliment those on the other side of the river in Workman Gardens. Noted as the jewel in Evesham’s crown by Britain in Bloom judges, it has something for everyone to enjoy from the unique artwork, the skate park, the lily pool and the Penny Whistle sculpture. The park was awarded Green Flag status for 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09 |
