Former Agricultural Premises Relief

Businesses which occupy former agricultural premises or land, may qualify for 50% Mandatory Rural Rate Relief.

To qualify, the land or buildings must have a rateable value of not more than £7,000 and must have been in agricultural use for at least 183 days for the period 15th August 2000 to 14th August 2001. (Businesses involving the breeding or rearing of horses or ponies are excluded.)

If you qualify for Mandatory Rural Rate Relief we also have the power to award a further 50% Discretionary Relief if we consider the business is of benefit to the local community.

NOTE: Former Agricultural Premises relief ends on 14 August 2006.  Businesses who qualify for Former Agricultural Premises relief may be entitled to Small Business Rates Relief.
