Ten thousand households in Wychavon will start using wheelie bins this September with the remaining forty thousand households following in March 2009.
We will be visiting residents over the next few months providing information on the new scheme and promoting our road shows where you can find out more about the new scheme, see example bins and have an opportunity to find out about some alternative service arrangements.
To find out more about the roadshows and to have some key questions answered visit the new recycling and waste collection service page.
Our contractors (FOCSA) collect refuse in black sacks weekly from the front edge of your property on our behalf. You are supplied with a roll of 52 black sacks every six months equivalent to 2 per week.
We provide a Bulky Waste Collection service for large items such as beds and cookers.
Garden waste will only be collected from households who have subscribed to the chargeable garden waste collection service or in prepaid sacks available from our Community Contact Centres. Alternatively it can be taken to one of the Household Waste Sites.
We are committed to providing recycling services and increasing our recycling rate to meet Government targets.
We provide over 70 recycling bank sites throughout the District where you can take newspapers and glass bottles and jars. To find your nearest site and to see the range of materials accepted please see the Recycling Centres list.
We collect newspapers, textiles, cans and plastics from 94% of properties in the District in purple and clear sacks

To help promote waste minimisation we hold Real Nappies 'nappachino' meetings, and support Home Composting. We provide links to freecycle, the network for reuse electrical items and furniture and the Worcestershire County Council Garden Waste Shredding service.
