For the past 11 years, cyclists of all ages and abilities have shown their support for the Pershore Division of St. John Ambulance by taking part in their fundraising Bikeaways. These events have proved so popular and due to great public demand, Sunday 12th October 2008 sees the return of the Bredon Hill Bikeaway, with four exciting family orientated routes to choose from (2 of which are new this year!) |
Starting at the beautiful Deer Park Hall at Eckington, Nr Pershore, this year's Bikeaway will consist of 4 routes. The Beginners Route (A leisurely 5 1/2 miles), The Lounge Lizards Route (A relaxing 9 miles), The Family Route (A fun 16 miles) and the Adventurer's Route (A challenging but exciting 47 miles) all promise to provide you with delightful Autumnal scenery, sights and sounds' of Bredon Hill and the surrounding villages and hamlets. Registration will open at 9am and continue until 11am with the official start of the Bikeaway at 9.30am. Maps of your chosen route will be available upon registration (or upon request prior to the event). At almost every public event our members can be seen administering first aid and many other varied and interesting tasks. As well as this work which is very much in the public eye, there is also the St. John Ambulance Association which is responsible for training programmes. Did you know...Bredon Hill is one of the most important wildlife sites in England. Part of it has been designated a Special Area of Conservation under the European Commission Habitats Directive and a National Nature Reserve. The hill contains a range of habitats including limestone grassland, scrub and ancient woodland, and is an important habitat for rare invertebrates, such as the violet click beetle. Deer Park HallDeer Park Hall is delighted to support St John Ambulance and the Bredon Hill Bikeaway Deer Park Hall set on the edge of the Cotswolds in a 1400 acre country estate is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and has been voted as having one of the Top Ten Views in England. This award winning venue is located just outside Pershore, close to Cheltenham and Worcester with excellent access to the m5 and m50, and nearby rail links to London. the historic Grade II Listed building has a delightful oak panelled function room, with open fireplaces, majestic chandeliers and a large minstrels' gallery catering for up to 100 people. Deer Park Hall Estate offers one of the largest corporate entertainment sites in the country with over 20 activities and with its superb views and romantic location it is an exclusive setting for weddings.
